The 1st of April brings with it many tricks and pranks and I am pleased to say that this April’s fool’s day was full of good humour. For the record though, the Southside diner in Creekside has not been sold and there will be no Denny’s moving in, and while Andre St. Jacques of the Bearfoot Bistro may be keen to see a Cactus Club come to town, it likely won’t be in the current Araxi’s location.
Now while I
love a good joke as much as the next person, the continuing reduction in
Whistler inventory and lack of new listings is no laughing matter if a Whistler
purchase is a goal for you. Buyer
activity continues at a strong pace and we continue to see units sell for more
than they did a year or 2 ago. We
currently have 442 active chalet, condo, duplex, townhome and vacant land
listings available to purchase in Whistler right now*.
A great example of why you want to make the move sooner than later can be seen in the single family home market under a $1M; in the first quarter of 2013 we had 14 home sales under $1M. The first quarter of 2014, we only had 5 and it’s not because the buyers all went away… there simply is not the same amount of inventory to purchase. Knowing this, sellers have increased their prices and the result is we have had 21 sales of chalets above $1M in the first quarter of 2014 (which compares to 22 sales in Q1 2013).
This past week brought 13 new listings, 6 price changes and 7 sales to the Whistler market compared to the 18 new listings, 15 price changes and 11 sales from the previous week. Please click here to see these properties.
