Whistler real estate update by Nick Swinburne for Oct. 18

Rain, rain and more rain!  I feel we can officially call the summer of 2012 over.  You wouldn’t have heard these words from me last June, but I am pleased to see the precipitation and even more pleased to spot the start of a decent snowline in the upper mountain elevations a few mornings ago.  If you haven’t already heard, the big news in Whistler is that the Ironman Triathlon will be coming to town in August 2013, which will begin a 5 year contract with the World Triathlon Corporation to host the event here.  This is great news for resort owners who will not only gain heads in beds, and from a global exposure perspective too.

The past 2 weeks brought 27 new listings, 16 Price changes and 23 completed sales in the Whistler real estate market. Please click here to view.

These numbers show an overall decrease from the previous 2 weeks numbers (44/39/40).

Current Active chalet, townhome and condo listings continue to stay under 600 and median days to sell for these combined housing types has continued to rise since June.  List prices continue down but the gap between list price and sale price is decreasing.  Overall pricing is declining but inventory continues to lower as buyers wait and target well valued purchases.
