Ask any Realtor in Whistler what question they are getting asked the most, and they would probably reply with “What do you think the market is going to do in the next (fill in # months here) months?”.
As many people know, there is currently a large amount of inventory available in the Whistler market, but in the past 3 months we have also seen Buyer activity pick up. Although some vendors are still faced with pricing above what the current market will bear, when properties come to market that are appealing both in price and condition/location, these properties typically have a line up of Buyer agents ready to submit an offer to the listing Realtor. In this scenario, we go from a Buyer’s market to a seller’s market very quickly.
As reductions to continue to occur now that our winter season is wrapping up, I feel Buyer activity will continue so it's important to be prepared.
In the past 7 days we have had 24 new listings, 28 price reductions and sales are moving along at 21. This compares to 22 new Listings, 16 price reductions and 18 sales that we saw the previous week.
